Racing Rapids was a water park attached to Santa’s Village amusement park. I’ve included a few pictures of the old Santa’s Village after it closed in 2006 and sat empty until 2011 when it reopened under the name Azoosment Park. It changed names a couple more times and perhaps will again for 2023 (if it reopens). Racing Rapids was the place to go in the summer in the late 1980’s-early 90’s, however it has been shuddered since early 2000’s and remained abandoned until just a couple years ago when it was demolished (land used for new water attractions). It was easily accessible for photography until then. Someone wouldn’t even have to trespass if they viewed from the car wash that overlooked/backed up to the water park. The Polar Dome was an ice arena also on the property which was opened in 1963. I spent time there in the 1980’s watching friends play hockey. Tons of good times. After it closed it eventually became paintball grounds. Just another example of the icons of my youth which have disappeared.
